The term "Mononoke" (物の怪 or もののけ) is not a name, but a Japanese word for a spirit or monster. Unlike Ghibli's earlier films, Mononoke has a darker and more violent setting and tone.
The film was released in Japan on July 12, 1997, and in the United States on October 29, 1999. It was a critical and commercial blockbuster, becoming the highest-grossing film in Japan of 1997, and the highest-grossing there of all time until Titanic was released later that year. It was dubbed into English and distributed in North America by Miramax, and despite a poor box office performance there, it sold well on DVD and video, greatly increasing Ghibli's popularity and influence outside Japan.
Lady and the Tramp (2019)
In this timeless re-telling of the 1955 animated classic, one of the greatest love stories ever told, a pampered house dog and a tough but lovable stray embark on an unexpected adventure and, despite their differences, grow closer and come to understand the value of home. Life is good for Lady, an overachieving American Cocker Spaniel who resides in an upscale suburban neighborhood. Her owners, Jim Dear and Darling, spoil her daily and her neighbors, Jock, an eccentric and outspoken Scottish Terrier and Trusty, a world-weary Bloodhound and retired police dog, are always within barking distance. But when a baby enters the picture, Lady is no longer the center of attention, and the arrival of cat-loving Aunt Sarah only complicates matters. Lady soon finds herself alone on the streets in an unwelcoming part of town. Fortunately, Tramp steps in, and the streetwise mongrel is quick to teach her the ways of the world. Before long, the prim and proper pure bred and the fast-talking mutt are partaking in moonlight strolls in the park and romantic spaghetti dinners by candlelight. Tramp savors the independence of a world without leashes or fences alongside his roguish friends, the sassy and vivacious Peg and bad boy Bull, but Lady misses the comfort and safety of a family, and soon both must decide where – and with whom – they belong. Seamlessly combining live action and photorealistic animation, “Lady and the Tramp” is a heartwarming romantic adventure the whole family will enjoy. The Passion of the Christ (2004)
The Passion of the Christ (sometimes referred to as The Passion) is a 2004 American biblical epic drama film directed by Mel Gibson, written by Gibson and Benedict Fitzgerald, and starring Jim Caviezel as Jesus Christ. It depicts the Passion of Jesus largely according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It also draws on pious accounts such as the Friday of Sorrows along with other devotional writings, such as the reputed Marian apparitions attributed to Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich.
The film primarily covers the final twelve hours of Jesus' life, beginning with the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane, the insomnia and grievance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and ending with a brief depiction of his resurrection. Flashbacks of Jesus as a child and as a young man with Mary his mother, giving the Sermon on the Mount, teaching the Twelve Apostles, and at the Last Supper are some of the most notable images depicted. The film was shot in Italy, and the dialogue is entirely in reconstructed Aramaic, vernacular Hebrew, and Latin with subtitles.
The film has been controversial and received mixed reviews, with some critics claiming that the extreme violence was distracting and excessive. The film was a major commercial hit, grossing $612 million during its theatrical release. The Passion of the Christ is the highest-grossing religious film, the highest-grossing R-rated film in the United States, and the highest grossing non-English-language film of all time. It also received three Academy Award nominations in 2005.

The film was only seen in screenings presented by Andersen, occasional presentations at American Cinematheque and copies distributed via filesharing and other person-to-person methods. In 2014, it was announced that the film would finally be released officially by Cinema Guild.
Andersen stated that the film idea occurred to him after a lecture he gave at the California Institute of the Arts, where he talked about his objections to L.A. Confidential, the 1997 Curtis Hanson film adapted from James Ellroy's novel.
In the film, Andersen argues that the influence of Hollywood overshadows Los Angeles and one of the reasons the city is frequently abbreviated. He makes the case that directors have a distate for modernist architecture, which is regularly used for villain's homes.
